For many adults, a fear of dogs is not just an inconvenience – it can be deeply distressing, limiting daily life, and sometimes even isolating. Whether your fear stems from a traumatic experience, childhood memories, or simply never having been around dogs, overcoming it can feel daunting. That’s why we are proud to launch our NEW and unique joint service: Overcoming Your Fear of Dogs for Adults.
What Makes This Service Unique?
This program combines the expertise of two professionals working together:
Carol – a fully qualified Therapist (BACP registered) with experience in trauma and adult fears. She will guide you through the emotional and psychological side of overcoming fear, giving you tools and strategies to feel safe and supported.
Matt – a vet-recommended, accredited canine behaviour practitioner who has worked with countless families and individuals to help them better understand and feel confident around dogs. Matt is also a KAD (Kids Around Dogs) accredited professional and has successfully used the KAD “fear of dogs” protocol for many years.
By combining therapy with practical dog behaviour support, you’ll receive a truly holistic approach that helps both your mind and your confidence around dogs, reducing anxiety step by step.
How the Sessions Work
All sessions are run online via Zoom, so you can begin your journey from the comfort of your own home. This makes the service accessible no matter where you live and allows you to progress at your own pace.
Once you are ready and if you are local, there may also be opportunities to meet a dog in person – but only when you feel comfortable and prepared. The process is gentle, structured, and always led by your pace.
Why Addressing Fear Matters
Fear of dogs in adults can affect daily routines – from avoiding parks and neighbourhood walks to feeling anxious visiting friends or family who own dogs. Left unaddressed, this fear can impact mental health, confidence, and social life. By working with both a therapist and a dog behaviour specialist, you’ll be supported emotionally and practically, giving you the best chance of lasting change.
